An uneventful busy day ahead…. June 30, 2007

It’s Saturday and my criminal husband woke me up at 7:00 so we could go to Lowe’s and buy a new door. It should be a busy day that includes mostly home repair & cleaning….sounds like fun doesn’t it? I will finish painting the cabinet we purchased for my craft corner in the basement, Jason will tear out the old door and install the new one with as little help from me as necessary.
The rest of my day will consist in running E around town for a birthday party and to pick out invitations and stuff for his party that is next month. Oh yeah and I get to watch LL for our friends for a while this morning while her mom work and dad helps a family from church move. She is growing up so much an is fun to have around….she loves to play with E….so it shouldn’t be a big deal to have her here at all.
Last night we had dinner at the Mac Donald’s and D out did her self on the meal….appetizer of tomato slices topped with sliced fresh mozzarella cheese a basil leaf from their garden and olive oil….Yumm! then a salad of spring greens, sliced almonds, dried cherries and raspberry poppy seed dressing…also Yummmmm….then P grilled NY strips with a wonderful seasoning rub-grilled to perfection…just a little pink in the center-LOVED IT!….and to finish off the meal a wonderful Costco key lime pie! Great meal….great time with friends(even if Jason did win the game in basically one turn)…..then during dinner they announce that it is their anniversary….what’s wrong with that picture….we should have been cooking for them don’t ya think?
Happy anniversary guys, and thanks for a great night.

Ours is to be the resident Redneck Neighbors! I think we’re getting pretty good at it! First the car with no hubcaps for 9 months, the dishwasher in the front yard for 3 months, and now the sheet of plywood that will be screwed onto the door where the window used to be(hopefully for only 3 days….we’ll see.)!
Yep, life in a house filled with boys is never boring, always a new “adventure” around the corner. No complaints from the mom, I love having the boys around, even when they are acting like boys!
I got a call a few minutes ago from a frantic E, he was crying so hard that I couldn’t understand a word coming out of his mouth. Apparently N thought he’d be funny and lock everyone else out of the house, E then slammed his palm against the glass in outrage. All resulting in a shattered window. After assessing the damage….a few small cuts, and a lot of glass everywhere….it appears I will be getting a new door on Saturday. Not exactly the way J thought he would spend his weekend, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. We had talked about replacing the door, we just thought it would be a couple more years down the road….so instead of new bedroom windows I will be getting a new entry door this summer…6 0f one…?
Hope your day is much less eventful

Boys and Girls June 25, 2007

I have 2 boys, I love that, I prayed for boys. I just think that I would really struggle with raising girls, I don’t like to do nails and hair etc… for myself, I can’t imagine doing that on a 3 year old all the time….not to mention the hormone issues in the teenage years. I have a good friends that have all girls and they love it (they being mom & DAD), they cannot not fathom raising boys. It takes all kinds right?
This weekend E got invited to a birthday party for a girl from his class at school. This is a first in our family. Sure N has been to girls b-day parties before but they have always been family friends, not just someone from school. N has been relentless in his teasing of E over this. J had to step in and put a stop to it. The thing is when J asked E if he knew who this girl was E couldn’t even remember her….they were in the same class all year, at the end of the year E could name every person in his class in alphabetical order and give the # assigned to them at the beginning of the year……now, a month later, he can’t remember her? I think it is cute that he is getting invited, I’m sure that he will find that all the kids in the class were invited…we’ll see. I just can’t imagine that he was the only boy invited.
Speaking of Birthday parties, we promised E that he could have a pool party for his 7 year old b-day just like his brother had when he turned 7. Now E has his b-day in January, so we decided to celebrate on his 1/2 birthday. I just haven’t figured out how to word the invitations yet…..saying we are celebrating his half birthday seems to me like we are a little off, I’m thinking phone call invites will work best this time around.
